NOT IN A CULT

Karin Babbitt is a veteran stand-up comic, screenwriter, director, and arts educator whose career spans over four decades. A proud member of SAG-AFTRA, WGA, and CTA, Karin began her career in 1984 and has since performed at legendary venues like The Comedy Store, written for screen and stage, and championed inclusive storytelling in every corner of her work.

She produced The Last Laugh for PBS in 1990 in honor of World AIDS Day, starred in the groundbreaking web series Cleaner Daze, and managed an innovative film program in Silicon Valley for filmmakers diagnosed with developmental disabilities. She currently teaches full-time at the San Francisco Comedy College, performs stand-up and professional storytelling, and has appeared on the podcast Prompt with In a Nutshell Productions in Sacramento. She has also been featured on several notable programs, including The Babblery—which airs on NPR stations—served on the morning drive at KFOX, and appeared on Live 105 San Francisco on The Alex Bennett Show. She is considered a “Comedy Store Legend,” with her name displayed on the club’s iconic wall, and has been personally invited by Pauly Shore to perform in next month’s Comedy Store Alumni Show.

In addition to her creative work, Karin serves as an Executive Producer, drama and film acting instructor, and play director in colleges, high schools, and professional theaters throughout Silicon Valley. Her specialties include stand-up comedy, film production, directing, writing, voice work, podcasting, and performance coaching.

Driven by a core mission—to create opportunities for all—Karin continues to write, direct, perform, teach, and support new voices across both stage and screen.
